AI/AN students score higher than Black peers, lower than White and Asian/Pacific Islander peers

Average scores in NAEP mathematics at grade 4, by race/ethnicity: 2007

Findings

  • AI/AN fourth-graders scored higher than Black fourth-graders and lower than White and Asian/Pacific Islander fourth-graders.
  • There was no significant difference between the scores of AI/AN and Hispanic fourth-graders.

NOTE: AI/AN = American Indian/Alaska Native. Black includes African American, Hispanic includes Latino, and Pacific Islander includes Native Hawaiian. Race categories exclude Hispanic origin. View complete data with standard errors.
