NQT Help |
Starting from the Explore NAEP Questions page, use the NAEP Questions Tool and Item Maps to examine different aspects of the released questions. Use the Test Yourself feature for a quick look at a few questions and to see how well students perform on them. Information on the Scoring page will describe the rigor of production of results in each assessment.
The NAEP Questions Tool (NQT) allows users to view released questions as well as their associated scoring guides, keys, classification information, performance data, student group data, and actual student responses for constructed-response questions. The purpose of the tool is to provide teachers, parents, students, educators, and researchers greater access to NAEP assessment exercises. The tool allows users to select questions and save them for practice, instruction, or research.
Item Maps help to illustrate the knowledge and skills demonstrated by students performing at different scale scores at each grade level on a particular assessment. Many of the items that illustrate student performance have been released, and are in the NQT. The item map contains links to the question in the NQT, providing more context for student performance.
Test Yourself allows you to answer actual questions used in NAEP assessments. You will see the correct answers and how well the nation’s students performed on them. There will be a link from each question to the NQT, so that you may learn more about the question.
Scoring leads to a description of the complex process by which student responses to constructed-response questions are scored in an objective, consistent, and valid fashion.
