On the Questions Search screen, once you have chosen your assessment type and basic criteria of subject, grade, and year, you will be able to narrow your questions results further. Selecting Advanced Criteria allows a more refined search by content subcategory, cognitive level, difficulty, and response type. Select the small plus sign to open the choices underneath a subcategory.
The type of criteria you can select will depend upon the basic criteria chosen; especially, which assessment type (either long-term trend of main) and which subject area.
Some examples of advanced criteria include:
Long-Term Trend—Mathematics
Content Area—breaks the questions down by subtopics of Numbers and Numeration; Variables and Relationships; Shape, Size, and Position; and Measurement
Difficulty—Presents the choice of easy, medium, or hard questions. The questions are grouped according to student performance. Multiple-choice or constructed-response questions that are scored either right or wrong are rated "easy" if answered correctly by 60 percent or more of students, "medium" if answered correctly by 40 to 59 percent, or "hard" if answered correctly by fewer than 40 percent; and
Type—Divides the questions by answer type, either multiple choice or short constructed response.

Content Area—subtopics of Space and Place, Environment and Society, and Spatial Dynamics and Connections
Cognitive Level—presents the choices of knowing, understanding, or applying
